Anchor Bay Inn

I'm sorry, but I wish I could be more generous. We seemed to be the only guests that night, and from what we could see, renovation work had begun in many of the rooms. In ours, the bathroom looked finished at first, but the faucet was literally coming out of the wall, with tubing visible. The ceiling boards were textured, and I wondered if that would lead to mold. There was just one screw holding the shower curtain bar, and one each for the toilet paper holder and towel hook. Most of the casings had two screw holes, so everything felt loose and insecure. There was no mirror, the fan still needed to be put on the ceiling, and the bed was lumpy with a dip in the middle. The bathroom really needs a deep clean, and the walls need greenboard, mudding and texture before the fixtures are put up securely. We were also woken early by construction workers using very flowery language. I asked my husband to find somewhere else next time we're in Reedsport. Be glad I didn't take pictures. 😉

There was no breakfast, and the place felt neglected and overpriced, with dirty carpets, old furniture, and a general sense that they had given up years ago. We checked in to find our room wasn't ready. Once we got in, it smelled old and musty, like it hadn't been cleaned in years. The bathroom fixtures were flimsy and badly installed, like a kid's DIY job. Stay somewhere else.

Right in the center of town, with a quiet, clean, simple room. The owners are awesome people. I'd definitely stay again.

Check-in was fine once the reception doors finally opened. I arrived as a walk-in at 6:15 pm and was almost leaving when they opened. With taxes, it cost $98. After seeing the room, I'd say pay at most $50 if you're exhausted. The shower was falling apart and the bed looked straight out of the '80s. At least the towels were nice. The motel was completely empty, just me there, but I still paid full price. I should've trusted my gut and gone somewhere else. Guess exhaustion won. Good luck.
