Cape Suites Motel

We left after one night. As the AC ran during the next 24 hours, a horrible musty, moldy odor built up in the apartment, apparently coming from the front unit, and we weren’t comfortable breathing that air. The couch and front door also had sunscreen stains that needed cleaning. We first checked into unit 8 and saw black mold on its AC. The host didn’t reply through the app, but answered quickly when I called and offered to move us. In unit 7 the AC units were dusty, so she offered to clean them, and she also cleaned some gray-black substance off the toilet seat. I had searched Airbnb for a two-bedroom place, but this unit only had two beds, not two bedrooms. One was a Murphy bed in the living room right by the unit’s only entrance. Once our toddler was asleep, we were stuck in the back bedroom. Super grossed out and disappointed.

For Room #8 at Cape Suites MOTEL, booked through AirBnB: it’s listed as a 2 bedroom, but there’s only one bedroom. There’s an extra Murphy bed, plus a microwave and fridge. Aladdin grocery store is directly across from the property, food places are nearby, and there’s a safe free parking spot. You can borrow beach chairs, and there’s laundry on site, though its 930 AM -4 PM hours fall right during beach time. The review listing also has “Confederate flags on property” under pros. The room is poorly lit and really tight. The tissue box feels like sandpaper, there’s a moderate number of mosquitoes in the parking lot, and no blackout curtains on the bedroom windows. The AC is old and noisy, switching on and off and waking us up all night. Once shut, the swollen bedroom door is hard to open. Food delivery trucks make early mornings noisy. Cleaning wasn’t finished until five minutes before check-in. Toiletries and towels are limited, and at peak summer prices housekeeping should be better. There’s no drinking water.

Steve was friendly and easy to reach, and the towels were surprisingly soft. We liked the balcony for relaxing and the location, close to town and the beach. The suite had two bedrooms, a TV in each, plus a mini fridge, microwave, Keurig coffee maker, and access to an ice maker. It was just enough for a few days, and we’d stay again.

The location’s the only good thing here. The rooms are tiny, and two little rooms for $356 a NIGHT is way overpriced. I got kicked out for going into the room after I’d received the door code. I’ve never given someone a key to a house they weren’t allowed into. This place is junk, save your money and go somewhere better.
