We’ve been returning to Avenue Inn for three years. It’s a good distance from the beach, boardwalk, and Funland, and Mr Lou runs a free golf cart shuttle to take you and your things back and forth. The hotel also lends out thick, fluffy beach towels and chairs, and Lou has a rack for them on the cart, so you don’t have to carry them far. Our family of five finds the rooms very clean, though a bit small. On rainy days, the heated indoor pool, steam room, and hot tub are fun. The gym is clean and decent, with enough for some cardio and a leg or arm workout. Staff are friendly and service minded. My kids especially look forward to the free milk and cookies in the lobby at 8 p.m. sharp. All day coffee and tea are there too, though I wish they had hot chocolate powder for the kids. We bring our own. Breakfast is fine, with options like pancakes or French toast, sausage or bacon, omelets or scrambled eggs, cereal, oatmeal, bagels, and juice. The 5 p.m. cheese and wine is decent, just don’t expect a gourmet spread. The pine smell in the hallways can be a bit much, though it doesn’t reach the rooms. We haven’t tried The Blue Hen because we travel with kids and it isn’t kid friendly. It’s a good spot for families, couples, friends, or other kinds of trips.

This place feels like our home away from home, and we come back every year. This visit was no exception. We’d booked three nights more than a month ahead, then decided to add three more. The staff went out of their way to make the extension work. We had to change rooms, but they handled the switch smoothly and helped us throughout. Every staff member was welcoming, friendly, and genuinely kind. Their hospitality is a big reason we return. We’re already looking forward to coming back later this summer.

John and Bret at the front desk were wonderful. My schedule and needs changed during the stay, and they went out of their way to help, always offering suggestions and solutions with a smile. Housekeeping turned the rooms around quickly each morning, and the breakfast staff were friendly. Norma was especially attentive and made my daughter smile every day. The hotel isn’t oceanfront, but its central location made that fine. It’s a short walk to the beach, boardwalk, restaurants, and shops, and they provided towels and beach chairs each day. We’ll definitely return.

The hotel makes beach days easy, even after checkout. They provide chairs and towels, and there are showers and changing rooms in the lobby so you can still go to the beach on your last day. You can also get vouchers for free bike rentals. The place is clean, smells nice, and the staff are friendly and focused on guests. I also love the included breakfast, wine and cheese at 5:00, and milk and cookies at 8:00. The lobby feels welcoming and spacious, with a side room and library that has games, a fireplace, and a business center. This is my favorite place to stay when I’m away from home.

My husband and I have been coming here for our anniversary for the past few years, and I can’t believe I hadn’t reviewed it before. The staff are friendly, the rooms have always been clean, and the hotel is just a block from the beach in a perfect spot for walking around Rehoboth. They provide beach towels and chairs, plus free coffee all day and milk and cookies. My one issue is that the garage sometimes doesn’t have enough parking. We usually visit in the offseason, when street parking is free, but I can see how it would be a hassle in peak season.
