Econo Lodge new Reno - Sparks Convention Center

This is a typical budget motel, but I was freezing in the room. The wall thermostat was disconnected, and all I had on the bed was a thin fleece blanket. I woke up in the night to put on more clothes and tried using the extra pillows as blankets.

I’ve had one of my worst budget motel stays in a long time. The first room was filthy, and when we went to tell the front desk, there wasn’t even a bed in it. They moved us to another room that smelled strongly of smoke and was disgusting. We couldn’t get a refund, so we were stuck there for four days. No one at the desk seemed to know what was going on or how to make it less awful. We woke with massive headaches from the smoke smell. The heater didn’t work right, there was no TV remote, and on the second night the outlets stopped working. One outlet fried my charger, so I had to buy a new one. They said maintenance would come tighten it, whatever that means. Money was tight, or I’d have booked somewhere better. I emailed the property twice and still haven’t heard back. After checkout, they tried to take another $100 from my account, and the office said they didn’t know why when I called. We reported the smoke right away because the paperwork said they’d keep my deposit and charge another 200 if there was smoking in the room. We don’t smoke, but even if we did, that smell was already in the walls. I’m still waiting to hear about my deposit. I couldn’t get any real information from the desk, and my email hasn’t been answered. This is completely unacceptable. I know it’s not a high-end hotel, but I’m struggling, and now I’m out four hundred dollars. I might have been better off sleeping in my car.

This place was filthy, and the front desk woman was rude and unhelpful. We were told it was the last room, but there were blood stains on the floor in front of the bed. A homeless person was living right outside our door and doing drugs. When we asked to check out and get a refund, she said she couldn’t help and told me to email the manager. It’s been three days with no reply and no refund. Garbage place and people.

There’s nothing in the rooms to make a stay worthwhile. No microwave, safe, iron, or water. The one saving grace is being close to the convention centre. Without that, it would be straight 1s across the board.
