Reno Suites

For the price, this downtown hotel feels a little luxurious. The rooms are clean and well put together, with a nice sitting spot by a huge window and a bathroom with attractive tile and stone counters. There are no hidden resort fees, and check-in was quick and courteous. If you’ve got several bags, ask for a luggage cart. They have them, though one may not be out in the lobby.

The front desk couldn’t offer any suggestions when we asked where to eat or whether breakfast was available. All I got was a receipt, no pamphlet or useful information. There was nowhere to get food except some boxed junk, though there was a coffee area. The room was fairly clean but a little worn, and I had to wipe something off the toilet seat. The window was dirty, so I couldn’t take good photos through it, even though the view was nice.

The room itself was clean, comfortable, and quiet, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Free parking nearby was a nice plus. Outside, the hotel looks a bit run down, like a former casino in a somewhat shabby part of downtown. Even so, we felt safe walking around, including at night.

I stayed nine nights and had a very good visit. The staff were consistently professional, friendly, and helpful, and GM Laurie was especially caring. The location worked well, with the bus station down the street, Amtrak across the street, and bus stops opposite. My king suite was nice, though it didn’t seem very clean when I arrived. The sink only gave tepid water from both the hot and cold taps, but I managed and didn’t ask to switch rooms.
