Days Inn & Suites by Wyndham Columbus East Airport

After a different hotel overbooked us and left us scrambling, Days Inn by Wyndham Airport East turned out to be much more than a place to sleep. Chris at the desk handled our late arrival kindly and efficiently while taking phone calls, and the owner was welcoming too. Our room was spotless, with clean sheets, soft pillows, a comfortable bed, and plenty of towels and toilet paper. We never saw the cleaning crew, but they clearly did a great job. We came to Columbus for a music festival and don’t visit often, but we’d book this Days Inn again. The staff really rescued what could have been a disastrous trip, and we’re grateful.

The room was clean, updated, and peaceful, and the front desk staff were friendly, helpful, and quick. The location seemed decent, though late one night I saw someone get out of a car drunk, walk between two parked cars, lean against one, then urinate on the other. My bigger gripe was the lobby’s refrigerated food and drink vending machine. It charged $10 every time I opened the door, with no prices displayed. I took a Sprite, a small bag of Store Value chips that cost 50 cents in a store, and a José Olé chimichanga listed at $1.32 in a store. My debit card was charged $30 for those three items. They’d barely cost $3 at a store, or maybe $10 to $12 from a vending machine. I’d avoid the food options if I came back.

Hope at reception was lovely and really helpful with customers. The hotel is easy to reach, right on a main road, and the room prices stayed affordable even with an event happening in town.

There’s potential here, especially with renovations underway. Our room was spacious, clean, and fairly quiet, and the staff were nice. But during our stay, the toilet leaked, the showerhead was partly unscrewed, and one electrical circuit overloaded twice. The TV, microwave, and mini fridge were all connected through a receptacle splitter, which didn’t seem like a good setup. The fire alarm in our room also went off for no obvious reason. The quiet atmosphere and friendly staff were good, but the maintenance and electrical problems need attention.
