The evening-shift woman was so friendly and accommodating, and the new pool and spa were nice. They were full and had no handicapped room left, which was a little disappointing, though it wasn't their fault. We'll definitely come back.

The rest of my stay was pleasant, though the pool was cold. I was caught off guard at check-in to hear breakfast had been discontinued, especially since the breakfast area had just been remodeled. The owner apparently considers vending-machine snacks a fair substitute. I think the change is pretty recent. EDIT: The manager edits reviews on his his website, clips them, and twists what they mean.

I didn't stay here. I was trying to help someone who has a job but is down on their luck and has nowhere to live. I called to ask if there were rooms, and the woman sarcastically said yes. I asked for one room, then mentioned the online rate of $67. She laughed at me, called me a "little boy," and talked down to me. I'm a 40-year-old man, and I didn't appreciate being treated that way. When I said I'd pay cash in person, she laughed again and said it would be $165 a night plus a $250 deposit, not the rate shown online. I took my money and helped the person somewhere else. I won't stay here, and if anyone says they're planning to, I'll tell them the opposite of a recommendation.

We had to leave in a hurry because of an emergency with our dog, and in the rush my wife left her wedding ring behind. We were already about an hour away when she called the front desk. The staff found it, kept it at the counter, and let a family member pick it up. I'm incredibly grateful. Plenty of places might not have answered or found the ring, but they did. We'd had a great weekend at the Days Inn in Wausau. The staff greeted us warmly, and even though remodeling was underway, clear signs showed us where to check in. They explained how breakfast worked. Our whirlpool room was clean, roomy, warm, and quiet, everything worked, and the free coffee was good. Thanks to the staff for being such honest, helpful people.
