Hampton Inn & Suites Dallas/Richardson

The room needs the most attention. The carpet looked like it had been there since the old Hampton Inn days, and the desk had a literal hole where laptop and phone outlets used to be. Caulking around the shower base was messy, and what looks like a long-running leak had wrinkled the wallpaper. The TV was a newer model with a good interface. Outside and in the shared areas, things looked clean, maintained, and up to date. I didn't use the fitness center, though it looked roomy. I picked this hotel for the nearby park, which is fantastic and easy to reach for a run. Hope this helps if you're deciding where to stay around here.

The location is great, but be careful when booking: the Hilton Garden Inn in Dallas/Richardson has a very similar name. If you pick the wrong property in the app, this one isn't helpful about sorting it out. Our room was tolerable, though it didn't have enough drawers. Breakfast was subpar, and the downstairs area wasn't pleasant. Management was also unhelpful when the booking mistake happened. I've been with Hilton for a decade, but loyalty didn't seem to count and they couldn't help us. I definitely won't book here again.

Terrance was great when I brought up my problems with Tanya at the front desk. She was on her best behavior on the days he worked with her, but now he's gone again and I've never dealt with this level of unprofessionalism. I can't ask Tanya for anything without getting attitude. I tried to let it go because Terrance was so nice when she came around the desk to my one-year-old daughter, but I have no sympathy for someone acting like this in her role. She's the only problem I've had with the hotel, and I can't see how she belongs in customer service. If the owner wants to contact me, I'd appreciate it.

We had a great stay this weekend, though the tap water was a real problem. It tasted wrong from both the sink and shower, and our four-year-old wouldn't drink it, so we had to buy water. My wife and I didn't like it in our coffee or at breakfast either. There was also a terrible smell in the elevator that my wife couldn't stand.
