Hampton Inn Richmond - South

The one good thing I can say about this location is that the bed was comfortable. I've had good stays at other Hampton Inns, but this one didn't measure up. The room was a decent size, clean, and presentable, though the bedside lamp kept flickering. I called the front desk for a new bulb, then eventually had to go to the lobby and ask again. None of the vending machines had food or drinks. Shower water was lukewarm, and the free breakfast was awful.

There was one unwelcome friend in my room, fortunately just the one. Otherwise, everything was great, and the service was good. I usually like staying at Hampton Inn, and this place wasn't bad. If you're walking, food and other amenities nearby are a bit limited, though there's a Subway and Shell close by and a bar and grill just across the street. With a car, there seem to be lots of good Mexican food options nearby.

The room and hallways could use attention. They felt dark and old, and noise made it hard to sleep. The beds and bathroom were clean, though, and the front desk staff and breakfast servers were very welcoming.

The thermostat on the wall didn't work, so I had to use the controls on the unit. That was my only complaint. The room had a microwave, the beds were comfortable, and the shower was hot. Breakfast was good, though there wasn't a yogurt option with the usual Hampton choices. There's no snack nook, but they do have a business center, pool, fitness center, and guest laundry. Service was friendly and the hotel was clean. I enjoyed my stay and would come back. It felt like a typical Hampton Inn if you know the brand.
