Hilton Richmond Downtown

The room was lovely, and the staff were fine, though nothing stood out. Still, I can’t give this a great review when the mattress, the most important thing in the room, had a huge dip in it. It probably should’ve been thrown out before being rented. When I told the front desk, the response felt blasé, and he said he’d give me some points. I didn’t want to take it further, so I left. I also heard the bar staff speak to other guests quite rudely in an underhanded way. The photo shows the sheet pushed onto the mattress, not the dip.

My room felt open and comfortable thanks to the high ceilings and spacious layout. The mini fridge was handy. The bathroom was a decent size, though it needed some attention: fresh caulking in the shower to address minor mold, and maintenance on the sink faucet. The location was excellent, with the Dominion Theater just a short walk away and plenty of restaurants nearby. The lobby restaurant and bar stayed open until 1am on the weekend. I didn’t try it, but it was busy and seemed popular with guests. The hotel itself was quite nice. The parking arrangement was different from what I’m used to, but it worked out in my favor, so I have no complaint about it. It was a pleasant stay, and I’d return to the Richmond area hotel. A few small maintenance fixes would make it better.

As a Hilton Honors member, I expect professional and respectful service, so this was very disappointing. At about 1:54 AM on 2/26/2026, I called the front desk at Hilton Richmond Downtown for help. The representative wouldn’t give me his name when I politely asked, then hung up on me. I hope management looks into who was working then. The interaction showed very poor customer service and an unwillingness to help a Hilton Honors guest. I hope the hotel addresses it so other guests have a better experience.

The room had a few problems: the sheets felt a bit rough, the door scraped along the floor and was loud and difficult to open, and the hot water took 5 minutes to heat up before going cold soon after. Oscar at the front desk was helpful with my reservation. There’d been a misquote for my rooms, and he agreed to correct the price without any pushback. The pillows were great and the service was wonderful. I also enjoyed the food and cocktails in the bar lounge, and the made-to-order breakfast menu. I ordered an omelette.
