Clarion Inn Near China Lake Naval Station

We loved our stay here. The room was spacious and very clean, with a soft king bed, plenty of pillows, big fluffy towels, and a fridge, microwave, and coffee maker with supplies. It also had two door locks. The jacuzzi was hot and enjoyable, though it has bubbles rather than powerful jets. The pool was nice too. Breakfast was a great continental spread in a pleasant restaurant-style room. There's also a separate restaurant, where the staff went out of their way to help us watch Supercross. The food and service there were both good. I wish I'd taken pictures, but I hope this helps. Five stars from us.

The staff were kind when we arrived. The front desk clerk told us about the town, and later Alex heard about a loose tile by the writing desk in room 105. He said maintenance was a one-person operation and the general manager's budget cuts would probably mean it wouldn't get fixed. That seems to fit the peeling paint and weeds around the property. The place looks like it was once nice, but it's slipping: the beds are compressed, the walls are thin, and light and noise come through the door seals. We had to turn on our TV to cover the neighbor's. Breakfast was enjoyable, especially the Belgian waffle and sausages, though the scrambled eggs tasted like an instant mix and were a bit runny. We skipped the hot tub because a few men were in it drinking a case of Firestone beer and playing loud music. It feels geared toward construction crews needing basic overnight lodging in Ridgecrest. After we got home, I realized I'd left my laptop bag in the room. Nick, the manager, shipped it to me through UPS after I emailed him a shipping label. I'm grateful for the care they showed. Housekeeping handled it with integrity, and David at the front desk called several times to check that it was being taken care of. The staff work hard, and I hope the owners give them a better repair budget.

We stayed while visiting family and really enjoyed the pool. The rooms were a good size, and breakfast was much better than I expected. Those Belgian waffles were a favorite. The restaurant on the property had tasty appetizers and drinks too. Great value for the stay, and I'd recommend it.

I’m here for work every week, and Clarion Inn has become my regular place. The price feels fair for clean rooms, a restaurant and bar, and welcoming service. Nick at the front desk looks after me when I arrive on Mondays, and having complimentary breakfast each morning is a real bonus. With a new hotel across the street, I still don't see the value in paying over $200 for a simple room, even with breakfast. Clarion gives me what I need, so I keep coming back.
