Motel 6 Ridgecrest, CA - China Lake

The hotel is dated, but it's well maintained and nice and clean. I had a little trouble with the TV, but the linens were comfy, the towels were nice and full, and the shower was good. For the price compared with other places, I think it was worth it. Breakfast at Dennys is included, with several surprisingly good choices. Recommended 👍.

I've stayed in many hotels, but never one quite like this. I love the place! It has cable TV, a coffee maker, microwave, mini fridge, closet, bathroom, and two queen beds, plus more. Even the shampoo, conditioner, and body wash aren't the cheap stuff!

I didn't feel comfortable with the area, so I booked at The Clarion for a little more. There, I felt comfortable, safe, and secure. This place looked like it was under construction, with what seemed to be a closed, boarded-up restaurant that looked abandoned. A group of men were hanging out and smoking in the lot, while there was only one car in the main hotel lot. The sign had been whited out or scribbled over with what looked like white paint. I wondered if it had been a different hotel and they hadn't gotten a new sign yet. I asked to cancel my reservation, but Azul declined and charged me the full amount even though I never stayed. I guess policies are policies, but I wouldn't recommend this hotel.

The staff were very friendly and accommodating. They left the AC running before we checked in, which was essential during the 110 degree heat wave, and kept the room at a tolerable temperature. The room was oddly huge, with two queen beds and lots of extra space, and maybe a smaller room would have cooled better. It was so hot that even the cold water came out around 90 degrees. The room was clean, though the outside looked a little run down. The beds were okay, but the mattress sagged a bit. A bright electrical station outside my back window made it really hard to sleep.
