D'Monaco Luxury Resort

The condo has gorgeous views and lots of open space, and staff are helpful when you reach them by phone. There's usually nobody at the front desk, but calls get a quick response. The property needs a lot of maintenance. The carpets are worn, the stove doesn't work, the pans are limited and scratched, and the sofa bed is broken. The TVs don't work either, and the internet is unreliable.

It's sad how much potential this place is leaving unused. The location is great, and the swim-out bar could make the facility amazing, but everything feels dated, worn, and underused. The atmosphere can be a bit rough since this is where they put people taking the timeshare tour.

The restaurant food was very good, and the waitstaff and one person at the front were friendly. Even so, this “resort” was a huge letdown. It felt more like a motel, with outside access to the rooms and a long walk outdoors to reach the restaurant. In pouring rain, that was not pleasant, and traffic noise carried through the room. The ‘condo’ was below even a basic hotel room in quality, and seemed more poorly built. Caulking was coming off the bedroom corners, the countertops were broken and unfinished, and old paint splatters were on the windows. The bedside dresser drawers had holes where the handles should have been. Front desk staff seemed to cover check-in, waiting tables, and repairs, but most things didn't get fixed. For the same money we could have stayed at Big Cedar or somewhere else closer and nicer. It seems like the place is going under and hanging on by a thread.

There was a constant stagnant-water smell in the room, so we bought a Scentsy candle uptown and burned it to deal with the odor. We also had a broken balcony door handle and plumbing that stopped up, with very little on-site staff available to help with room problems. The lake view from every room was great, though.
