Chipeta Lodge

The bathroom setup offers very little privacy: even with the door closed, you can whisper to someone on the toilet and still have a conversation. The room itself feels like a Colorado ski condo from the height of the 1990s, and nothing seems to have changed since then. The price is a lot for what you get. Then checkout brought a surprise charge of more than $200, even though the confirmation email had already included taxes. At least the place is “cozy,” I guess.

For a group gathering, wedding, reunion, or just a stay with friends, Chipeta Lodge has plenty of rooms while still feeling tucked away and private. We came for a Christmas road trip and found it was just what I had hoped for. The lodge is in a charming town, quiet despite being close to restaurants and shops. There's also a field down the road for a good dog walk. Our room was clean, comfortable, and stocked with thoughtful basics. It had a full kitchen, fireplace, and jet tub. Some rooms have private hot tubs, and there's a large shared one just outside the spa too. Having a restaurant and spa on site made the stay easy. Breakfast is available each morning, and the fresh evening cookies were a lovely little touch. The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating from start to finish. I'd recommend Chipeta Lodge to anyone coming through the area, and I'd happily stay again if we're back this way. Thanks for a lovely visit.

Stephanie at the front desk really made our long birthday weekend. She went out of her way to help us and quickly sorted out a small check-in problem. My wife and I loved the roomy, well-furnished rooms and their distinctive decor. We were also pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and drinks at the on-site restaurant. The location is beautiful, and finishing a day exploring nearby with a soak in the hot tub was lovely. We're already making plans to come back next year.

I left feeling delighted with the whole weekend and hope I can return soon. The beds were super comfortable, the included breakfast was generous, and the hot tub and pool were heavenly. Ridgway's dark-sky ethos made the stars an extra treat, and the gorgeous views and easy walk into town added to it. The front desk team were so kind and helpful. They found the spa service I wanted, offered me a much-needed bottle of water when I arrived, and made both me and my big dog feel welcome while taking care of my other requests. Ashley, the massage therapist in the lovely spa, was excellent too.
