Flamingo Motel

Roaches and bed bugs were the last straw in a place that was already filthy. The sheets and blankets were dirty, the rooms smelled strongly of cat spray and urine, and there was even human urine down the walls. The bathroom was falling apart, with hair, grime, and mold everywhere. The air conditioner, fridge, and TV didn’t work either. I was told most guests stay on social services vouchers. One guest said that when they asked about the sheets and broken appliances, the owner replied, “You’re just a voucher,” making them feel dismissed and disrespected. The place looks like it has never been cleaned. It’s a disgrace, and someone from the state needs to step in and stop this.

The staff were amazing, thanks, Flamingo motel! The pool was closed, but I still think the place is worth $250 a night. If you’re into that whole rehab setting, this is the place for you. Five stars from me.

I ended up paying for a room I wouldn’t stay in, then had to find and pay for somewhere else. The price had seemed fair and the pictures looked decent, but the reality was alarming. My kids looked frightened when we saw four people on the upper balcony using drugs. There were needles on the ground and the property smelled of weed. I told the woman at the desk that I had children with me and didn’t want them around that during our vacation. She said it wasn’t her problem and walked away. When I asked for a manager, she said there wasn’t one. She refused a refund because it was outside the 48-hour period, and also turned down my offer to pay half. I didn’t feel I could risk staying there. I called recently to explain the situation to a manager, but the same woman answered, said no, and hung up. I hardly ever complain or write reviews, but please don’t stay here.

After four nights, the garbage hadn’t been taken out and we had no fresh towels. Yet shortly after we stepped out for ten minutes, someone went in, turned off the AC, and locked the back bedroom door. The rooms are run down up close, and ours had what looked like patched bullet holes in the door. Police were coming and going, and we later learned they were searching a room for a “suspect.” On our last night, another guest checked in and left a few hours later after he and his wife found moldy food in the microwave. The owner first blamed the smell on the AC starting up, then accused them of bringing the bowl in to get a refund. We booked based on the price and pictures, but there’s no maid service. Spend a little more for a better hotel, or camp at the campground up the road. We won’t be back.
