Ripon Welcome Inn and Suites

The room prices are too high for what you get now. This place used to be a four-star stay, but today it has only one star’s worth left for me. There are no longer security doors, there’s no elevator, and nobody greets you when you walk in. It feels more like an apartment complex than an inn, and it certainly isn’t a suite. The whole operation needs a major influx of money and updates.

BED BUGS! Don’t stay here. I picked it because it was close to the college campus for a visit, but the place smelled old and like cigarettes. People live here as community residents. The on-site manager was kind, but that doesn’t ease my worry about bringing bed bugs home.

The hotel looks great from the outside, the fixtures inside are nice, and the people were nice. But the rooms need updating: the beds are old and somewhat uncomfortable, and the TV is small and old-style. There’s no in-room coffee maker, so you have to get dressed and go down in the morning to a tiny breakfast room that only seats a few people. Our bathroom had no floor mat, so water went everywhere and we used towels on the floor instead. On top of that, our toilet wouldn’t stop running. If the rooms were updated, I’d give it four stars instead of two.

The room was clean, the A/C was cold, water pressure was good, and the place was easy to find. The staff were very nice. But it’s super old and hasn’t had many updates. The A/C unit was loud, the toilet didn’t flush very well, and the beds were old and creaky. One of the bed frames was broken.
