Hampton Inn Riverside Downtown

The location was nice. I crossed the street to walk around DTR and get some fresh air, and enjoyed the Festival of Lights. Breakfast ran from 6am to 9am. It was basic but good, mostly eggs and bread like toast, bagels, and muffins, with a buffet that seemed to let you get more. HBO MAX was available, though I didn’t find much live TV. The room was clean, and staff were nice. They had a sign saying you need to come down to ask for extra towels or blankets, so I picked up towels when I was already coming back in. Parking was the main problem. The email the night before mentioned offsite self-parking or onsite valet because of construction, but I saw no construction and parked myself in the attached garage. At check-in they asked if I parked inside, gave me a tag, and didn’t mention a charge. Later I found a charge of $29 and change. When I called, I was told it was for parking inside, so I assume it was the onsite valet fee, even though I parked myself and nobody was outside to help arriving guests. The garage is shared with nearby apartments, so finding a spot may not be easy. There are also extra charges for anything you need brought up, since you have to collect it at the lobby. If you won’t be spending much time in the hotel, the price is fair. I don’t think I’d stay again or recommend it to friends and family.
