Hyatt Place Riverside Downtown

The location made this visit especially convenient, with the Festival of Lights just a one-minute walk away, and it felt safe. I stayed at Hyatt Place Riverside/Downtown on the last weekend of November for the festival and had a fantastic time. The room was comfortable, clean, and spacious. A brown-haired gentleman at the front desk who wore glasses and had bright, attentive eyes was very kind and helpful at both check-in and check-out. His warm, professional service made the trip better. I'd stay here again on my next visit to Riverside.

Pauline, be my friend pls LOL. She was so kind, checked in with me more than once, and suggested nearby spots for late-night food and drinks. I also really appreciated the newer front desk guy with the curled mustache, though unfortunately I can't remember his name. I had to fly in from out of state suddenly in April 25’ for a family emergency. I booked a room quickly with points, still got an upgrade, and could extend the stay in the same room once I realized I needed more time. The whole staff were so courteous, kind, and accommodating. Even during an emotionally traumatic visit, I felt cared for. I'll choose this location again when I come back, both for how close it is and for the hospitality. 💚

The room itself was really nice and clean. I wasn't happy with the front desk interaction, though. The woman there had no greeting and came across as having the personality of a rock, which made her depressing to talk to. They also charge $30 a day to park at the hotel. I'm from Vegas, of all places, and had never heard of guests being charged to park where they're staying. That felt very uncommon to me.

Breakfast was fantastic, with lots of options included, and early check-in and late checkout were nice features. The sleep, on the other hand, was rough. It was Friday night, with people pounding on doors around 2-3 a.m., trucks outside at 5 a.m., and then what sounded like the people upstairs moving furniture. I didn't get more than two hours of sleep at a time. The rooms need better soundproofing. Parking cost $29 and was limited. I had mapped the location and thought it was closer to Bakersfield, even though it's only 10 miles away, but traffic often made that a 20-minute trip. I asked for a room near the elevator because I'd recently had my hip replaced, but we were still two doors from the last room. There were only two tiny trash cans, and I had to hunt for them.
