The room situation turned a family weekend into a miserable, sleepless night. We returned from the Outer Banks (OBX) to Room 106 and found it unbearably humid and sticky. The AC fan was running, but it wasn’t cooling at all. My wife woke up as the heat rose, and I was jolted awake when the dehumidifier they sent at 11:30 PM was set up. We’d already been told to lower the AC to 65°F or below, despite my two young kids and my concern that would be too cold. The agent said nothing else could be done if I wouldn’t lower it, claimed nobody had complained in her 11 months there, and wouldn’t come inspect because she couldn’t leave the desk. Check-in had been cold too. The agent didn’t greet us, just abruptly asked for my ID and credit card. The next morning, it took three trips to the front desk before the manager moved us to another room at 1:00 PM. That disrupted our planned family activities for the day. The AC worked in the new room, but we still needed the dehumidifier from the first room to keep things dry. I’d booked two nights over Memorial Day weekend with Wyndham points, with a cash value of around $250/night before taxes, and my family had been looking forward to it based on previous positive reviews. At checkout, the manager offered 800 Wyndham points, about $10 in value, for ruining the first night. I refused. The receipt showed a $0 balance because we used points and had no incidentals. Then, two days later, I found an unauthorized $203.52 charge on my credit card, which I’m disputing with my bank. I strongly advise against staying here. If you do, watch your credit card statements closely for fraudulent charges.
