Tranquil House Inn

We were looking for somewhere comfortable to spend a national holiday, with food available and things to do. The restaurant was going to be closed for dinner, but we were assured the complimentary continental breakfast would still be served, even with the holiday. We had a roomy third-floor room with two Queen beds, two comfortable recliner-style chairs, and a small table and chairs. The waterfront view was lovely. From the second-floor balcony seating area, we watched sailboats on the sound and enjoyed the Live Oak shading the porch at both sunrise and sunset. The rooms use keyless entry, which was handy because we didn't all need separate keys. I think the code was tied to our phone number, so it was easy to remember. The hotel is right in the middle of Manteo, and we walked to shops, lunch, and an art gallery. The Tranquil Inn really lives up to its name. I've found a new favorite and we'll be back!

We've stayed at The Tranquil House Inn many times, and it's one of our favorite getaway spots. Even when Manteo is at its busiest for celebrations, the atmosphere stays relaxing. The location is stunning, the rooms are clean and well-appointed, and the staff are friendly and accommodating, often going way beyond what you'd expect. So many of Manteo's restaurants, shops, and attractions are an easy walk away. If you want to stay in, the on-site restaurant, 1587, never disappoints. Five stars hardly feels like enough for the experience we've had each time.

We had a fantastic meal at the restaurant, and I'd love to get the recipe for the brown butter maple vinaigrette on the root vegetable salad. The service, amenities, and room were all on point during our recent weekend stay. We also enjoyed rocking on the porch over the water with wine and cheese. This is a lovely property, and we'll certainly come back. I highly recommend The Tranquil House Inn.

Chuck made us feel welcome and helped us find exactly what we needed. The views are marvelous, and downtown Manteo is a prime location for this adorable hotel. Our room was cute, comfortable, and well appointed.
