SureStay Plus Hotel by Best Western Roanoke Rapids I-95

I won't stay here again. The price felt far too high for what I found: the food area was dirty, and my room had marks on the walls and chair. Paint was peeling, the curtains were coming apart, the bathroom lights didn't work, and the toilet paper holder was loose from the wall. When I went to the desk for help, nobody was there. They'd left a basket out for keys.

About a week after my family checked out, they told me they'd left clothes in the closet. They hadn't called the hotel, so I asked them to phone right away. Room service had found everything, still on hangers with the tags attached, and left it at the front desk. I was able to pick it all up the next morning, and was so relieved since I'd spent over $150 on the clothes. There were about seven identical pairs of men's khaki cargo shorts, probably not room service's style, but they could have taken them home through their husbands or sons. I honestly couldn't believe they kept the clothes there even though nobody had asked about them. If you leave something at this hotel, it may still be waiting at the front desk when you come back for it.

Breakfast the next morning was fine, though it could have offered more. The hotel was clean, and we didn't see bugs or anything that looked like a serious problem. The room itself felt dated, though: the bathroom door wouldn't shut all the way, some tiles were cracked, and pets had left scratches on the doors. The place is clearly due for an update. I can only assume the issues mentioned in other reviews had been taken care of before we arrived.

After driving from Baltimore, my family and I arrived at 3:30 AM exhausted and needing a restroom. I'd booked and fully paid for a JR King Suite two weeks earlier, but was told it wasn't available. They offered us a standard double queen instead, which I accepted only because we needed to get inside. Less than five minutes in, we saw roaches and checked right back out. I didn't stay even one night. Between the room downgrade and the cleanliness, this was a complete disappointment, and I wouldn't recommend the hotel. As of 12/08/2025, I'm still contacting Booking.com, the hotel, and corporate about getting my $494 refund. I expect it to be processed immediately.
