The Liberty Trust

I’ve stayed here several times, on both weekdays and weekends, and the staff were friendly in my previous interactions. Check-out was smooth, though remember to ask for the bill by email so you can review the itemized costs. Parking can be confusing: the garage rate is $8 per day, and adding another vehicle costs another $8. Check-in service has also been a little slow. It’s a very nice boutique hotel downtown.

We walked over from the train station and liked the location. Our room was clean and comfortable, and we didn’t hear the noise other reviewers mentioned. The lobby is an interesting, pleasant place to relax, and we appreciated the ambiance enough that we’d stay again. A few things felt neglected for a luxury hotel: scratchy towels, a very soft bed, no bathroom night light, and a leaking shower. There wasn’t any music playing, either. I’ve heard The vault is tasty, but we didn’t eat there, so I can’t comment on the food.

My room faced the train tracks, but I actually found the passing trains relaxing. The room and bathroom were both very spacious. I arrived before check-in, and the courteous staff kept my bag until the room was ready; meanwhile I explored nearby places they had recommended. I really enjoyed the stay and would choose the Liberty Trust again if I return to Roanoke.

We only spent one night, but I’d recommend the hotel. The building is stunning, the room was spotless and a good size, and the bed was very comfortable. We skipped dinner, then had cocktails and a huge breakfast sandwich in the morning. Everyone on staff was very friendly.
