Heartland Hotel and Suites

We found it surprisingly quiet inside, even when the parking lot was full the second night. It seemed almost empty the first night, though several people showed up for breakfast in the morning. The place was very clean, and the temperature was easy to adjust. There were plenty of TV channels, a washer and dryer, cooking appliances, 24-hour coffee, a nice shower, and soft beds. Breakfast had pancakes, boiled eggs, cold cereal, and toast. My main issue was that there was no ice, though I could have bought water for the fridge. The second floor is stairs only. I rated it based on what we needed, but rooms are usually scarce, and the price shown in Maps was wrong.

A little dated, but the room was clean, the service was good, and the staff were friendly.

The staff were all really friendly, and breakfast included waffles plus a few other things. Our room was a good size, with very comfortable beds, and it was spotless, bathroom included. Great value for the price.

We arrived at 10:15 pm and found a sign saying the hotel was closed because there was no electricity, even though the power was on at the time. Nobody had contacted us, so I called to ask what was going on. They said we could stay, but there was no water. We were not told there had been a sewer backup into the lower rooms. The person I spoke to said they couldn’t do anything about our payment because we’d booked through a third party. I asked for a refund, and the booking site tried calling and emailing several times while I waited with my family for an hour, but nobody answered. We eventually negotiated a discount, before we’d seen the rooms. The upper-level room was okay. Downstairs, the carpet was wet, the mattress was damp, and the room smelled of sewage and mold. When we tried to check out, no one was at the desk or answering the phone. If they’d contacted us before we got there, this could have been avoided.
