Tradewinds Motel

The staff were top notch, and the room was very clean. The little kitchen was stocked with everything we needed to cook, serve, and eat, plus containers for leftovers. Just bring spices, oil, and plastic wrap. We were really sad to learn that the fireplaces can’t be used anymore because too many people ignored the warning not to burn driftwood and burned holes in the chimneys. Can’t wait to come back!

The balcony view from the second floor is amazing, and the stairs really aren’t that bad. There are chairs and a table out there, and thick blankets in the room for staying warm while you enjoy the view. Getting to the beach is easy, and there’s a wash station for sand on your feet or shoes before coming inside. Guests can also use charcoal BBQs and picnic tables. The room was clean and furnished with more than we expected. The kitchenette had everything from a toaster, plates, silverware, mixing bowls, pots and pans, to a whistle steam pot. That helped us save several dollars by shopping locally and cooking a healthy meal that felt like home. The front desk clerk was very friendly and wished us safety on the way home because of recent accidents in the area. The cleaning staff were friendly too. The fireplace being out of service wasn’t a big deal to us; you can buy firewood and have a fire on the beach. We’ve had a great experience with the price, location, and service. Location is everything, and this place has it. Walking up and down the beach, my wife and I were grateful we chose Tradewinds. There are very few other places like it. If you expect perfection or everything on a silver platter, it might not be for you, but they honestly try to give guests a great experience at a good price. Thanks, Tradewinds. The grounds are beautiful and very well maintained, with picnic tables and grills out back by the ocean. Our room was very clean and had a fully equipped kitchenette. The ocean view was spectacular, and it’s 50’ from the beach. The beach was serene, with very few people around right now. The staff were kind and lovely, and they even lent me a phone charger. There’s a great location near lots of things to see!

I went for four days after a devastating loss, and staying in an oceanfront room with a balcony was the only thing that eased my grief. We found everything we could think of needing there. The owner’s care, consideration, and taste felt present throughout. My husband is terrified of the ocean, but this room won him over immediately. I take a bath every night and had never felt comfortable doing that in a hotel, but this tub was sparkling clean, so I could keep up my ritual and feel at peace. At check-in, Neil told us the street work planned for the following week had been moved to the next day. He offered a full refund if we wanted to find somewhere else, but we stayed because we knew there wouldn’t be a better place, from the owner to the oceanfront room. We left with the peace I’d come to find. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
