Holiday Inn Express Rockingham

For the price, the room was great, and the location was good, close to Rockingham. The rooms were really clean. Front desk check-in and checkout were quick and fast. A very nice place to stay.

The front desk switched us to another room within seconds when we mentioned the problems, and the A/C worked great. The new room was better, though the bed was hard as a rock. I still thought management had made a poor call by assigning us the first room. It looked as if someone had broken in: there was no top bolt, and the peephole had no glass, partly hidden by a little legal paper lifted over it. The remote was sitting out but had no batteries or back cover, and the old, nasty toilet seat made me uncomfortable. Breakfast was poor too. It started at 6:30, but by 7 they were out of milk and the decaf coffee was ice cold. There were maybe six yogurts, some muffins, and a couple of other pastries. Cereal and waffles were plentiful, but there was no milk for the cereal. The pool was closed all day in the middle of July. There are plenty of restaurants and other amenities less than two miles away, but this was the least “quality” Quality Inn I’ve stayed at.

DO NOT STAY HERE! We had no hot water, and the coffee maker hadn’t been cleaned out by the previous guest. I wanted hot water for my own tea, which I bring with me. For six days, the hotel van was parked on the ramp, blocking access for anyone needing it. Those yellow lines mean no parking, and the picture doesn’t lie. At checkout, my man told them someone had opened the door on me. They said they had the right to do preventative maintenance every two days. If they respond to this like they do to the other reviews by blaming new management, they need new ownership, someone who knows how to run a business.

After a full day of driving, we just wanted a night of sleep, but the room conditions made that impossible. Everything was damp, there was mold everywhere, the walls were coming apart, and the shower was gross. The toilet didn’t work, and mildew smell filled the room. DO NOT STAY HERE!!! I’ll probably leave with bed bugs.
