Bay View Inn

We stayed two nights in room 9 with family and our two dogs, and found roaches in the room and refrigerator. The place looked barely cleaned, as if the bed had just been remade. A dime under the table by the couch took two kicks to move, the side table was dusty, and my pillow cover was stained. Luckily I had brought my own pillowcase. There was an orange tinge along the lower walls, possibly from humidity, though the rooms where other family members stayed closer to the front didn’t have it. Small roaches were in the bottom of the fridge, including one that was still alive, and I found a few more belly-up nearby. On checkout day, my dad moved the desk and more little ones came out from underneath. The bathroom’s top light didn’t work, and most of the pole lights outside were out too. Only the one nearest the office and the ones at the far end worked. My mother missed a step coming down at night, which was hazardous. We called the owner about the infestation. She initially sounded snarky, then said she’d come over in a couple of minutes. After waiting half an hour, we had to leave and handed in our key. At checkout, we asked the owner’s daughter, who said her mom ran three hotels, if she knew about the roaches. She said she didn’t. When we told her what we’d found, she seemed not to care and rudely asked, “okay, what do you what do you want from me??” She showed no concern that we’d had a bad stay or that the rooms had a roach problem. The service and management were awful, and the place felt poorly run by a family with a poor attitude. I can see why it’s so cheap. If you want to stay near the water, I suggest finding another place with a dock.

The office staff were great, and check-in was easy. It’s an older motel right on the water, so don’t expect the Carlton. The beds were comfortable and the price was right.

We really enjoyed our Rockport stay. The view was beautiful, and the walking area was lovely. The beds were super comfortable, and my dog loved feeling the sea air on her face. It’s pet friendly too.

The service was great, our family enjoyed the rooms, and the prices were good. There’s a pier right next door, with a shopping mall and lots of stores and restaurants nearby. The beach is just down the street. We can’t wait to come back for another vacation.
