Fairfield Inn & Suites Rockport

Alina at the front desk is the reason Fairfield in Rockport, TX earned our 5 stars. She made a positive first impression and her kindness, professionalism, and care made check-in far less stressful than it could have been. The hotel is very nice, but employees like Alina are what make the difference. When we booked, we didn’t realize the number we called was for a 3rd party reservation service unrelated to Fairfield. We needed a king bed with a sleeper sofa for a disabled adult we care for, but the service booked the only room left, which had no sleeping area for a 3rd person. Alina showed us a 1st floor room. Since it was a handicap room, there was space to buy and set up a blowup bed, and that worked perfectly.

I’d give this place 0 stars if I could. My 2 and 3 year old babies were asleep in the second room when I saw roaches crawling on the wall. I was disgusted and couldn’t even finish my food. The first room we were given had a TV that didn’t work, so we had to switch rooms. After the roaches, they offered to move us again, this time to the THIRD floor. When I asked for a refund, VIKAS rudely refused because they had offered another room. I called their corporate office, they made a claim, and never got back to me. Vikas also wouldn’t give me his name when I called several times, saying, “they’ll know when you call.” How unprofessional is everyone working for Marriott? I’ll never go back, and I hope Marriott regrets hiring someone like Vikas to represent them. All he had to do was approve the refund, but instead he rudely wrote in the email, “refund declined there will be no refund for this guest.” The managers are rude, and the hotel isn’t even as nice as the pictures.

It was a decent stay, and the staff were accommodating. My room was spacious and quiet, though the bed wasn’t especially comfortable. The hotel is relatively new, around two and a half miles from the downtown art district. Breakfast wasn’t very good, and staff didn’t keep it well maintained. The room looked clean on the surface, but I wasn’t sure how clean it really was. The carpet felt very solid, its edging was dirty, and the elevator needed attention.

Room 102 needs updating. There were no outlets beside the bed, on either side. My husband uses a CPAP machine, so we plugged it into an extension cord from the far side of the room, leaving a trip hazard overnight.
