Super 8 Hartford South - Rocky Hill

We came back for a second stay because the owner and front desk staff had been so friendly and helpful the first time. They were just as nice on our return, so it clearly wasn’t a one-off. The rooms are clean and as expected, but that family-owned friendliness is what makes this place stand out. I’ve saved it as a favorite for trips through the area. There are a couple of nearby restaurants and gas stations, and it’s easy to get off and back onto the highway. A king-size, non-smoking room came to $86.24 with tax.

The hallway smelled of cigarette smoke, which was my main complaint. My room itself had no bad odors. It was clean and well kept, the bed was comfortable, and the staff were courteous. The location is very convenient, and for a budget hotel this is a solid choice. The continental breakfast was rather sparse.

Justin at the front desk was very pleasant and gave superior customer service. My room was clean, which I loved, but everything felt old and due for an upgrade. The bed, couch, carpet, and sheets all need replacing. I stayed three nights and couldn’t sleep because the bed was so worn out. My back hurt every morning when I got up. I’d give the place five stars if it were updated.

The staff at the desk were consistently friendly, helpful, and extremely pleasant throughout our six-night stay. We could walk to some good restaurants nearby. Breakfast had limited choices, but that’s what I’d expect at this price. The problem was the strong, constant smell of fresh cigarette smoke in our hallway, even though that floor had no smoking rooms. I don’t know whether it came from staff or inconsiderate guests.
