Best Western Inn At The Rogue

The stay felt frustrating from the check-in onward. David at the front desk seemed annoyed while dealing with my reservation, muttering things like “this won’t work” without telling me what the problem was. I had greeted him politely and brought my documents, but he made a dismissive remark about where I had booked. When I said I had a dog, he told me I hadn’t reserved a pet-friendly room and would owe an extra fee. I understand there are policies, but the unclear explanation and his manner made it uncomfortable. Later, I came back to ask for water and saw David smiling and taking his time with another guest, even giving him complimentary bottles. With me, he paused before handing over water and only said it was for “diamond level” guests after I asked. Loyalty perks are understandable, but the difference in treatment was disappointing. A straightforward explanation and basic courtesy would have helped a lot. That poor communication and inconsistent service colored the whole stay for me. I hope management addresses it so guests are treated respectfully regardless of status.

The breakfast was the biggest letdown. On Monday, with an hour left at a sold-out hotel, the egg patties were only lukewarm, the omelets and potatoes were gone, the meat looked sad, most bread and mini muffins were gone, and the burrito warmer was empty. There was very little fruit, and after making a waffle I couldn’t find syrup. Tuesday, an hour earlier, eggs were available but cool, and the potatoes were limp and damp from sitting too long. The meat was better, fruit and juice were out, syrup was easy to find, and the yogurt was partly frozen at the bottom. I also watched the cleanup worker dump the worse-looking potatoes over the halfway decent ones, while leaving the dry cereal area and a waffle batter spill uncleaned. It seems the front desk person is also expected to cook while handling checkouts and preparing for arrivals, and the food suffers for it. I stayed Saturday night through Monday morning for Boatnik. A new employee checked my wife and me in and carried our luggage up the stairs to the second floor, which was nice since there’s no elevator. The shower had old fixed multi-jet settings and low water pressure, though at least the water was hot. The room fixtures were dated, but the TV and Wi-Fi were good. If you want a real BW, look somewhere else.

The location worked well for us, close to Rogue River and easy to reach from the highway. My friend and I shared a Double Queen Beds room, with plenty of space for our bags; it was clean, comfortable, and well equipped for our trips. The front office team were welcoming and helpful throughout. Breakfast had a fresh mix of hot and cold items, and we took some extra for later in the day. We really enjoyed the stay and would happily come back.

The staff were really friendly and helpful, and the room was very clean and suited this kind of hotel well. It’s close to the freeway but near plenty of places, with a Mexican restaurant within walking distance, plus a weed shop and convenience store next door. The river and activities are close by too.
