Courtyard by Marriott Detroit Metropolitan Airport Romulus

My flight was canceled because of weather and the pilot timing out, so I unexpectedly had to spend the night here. The shuttle to and from the airport was great, and the room was clean. The refrigerator was noisy at first, but I adjusted its temperature and that stopped it. A nice stay for an unexpected night.

For a group of five, the sleeping arrangements were a problem. We booked a suite with a king bed and sofa bed, but there was no clear option for the fifth person. They told us they didn't have rollaway beds. We thought about asking for extra blankets to make a floor bed for one of the kids, but ended up sharing the beds with them. In hindsight, we should have brought a cot. If you're bringing more than four people, make sure everyone has somewhere to sleep. Aside from that mix-up, the hotel was quiet and clean, and the staff we met were friendly. We had no other concerns during our one-night stay before an early flight from DTW.

They let you leave your car there while traveling and have a shuttle drop you off and pick you up. There's an extra charge, but you save a little money. Check for the option online when booking or ask by phone to get the best deal.

The room was average but clean, and the $15 parking charge didn't sit well with me. I could've just said I hadn't driven. Check-in wasn't great either, the front desk made me feel like I was an inconvenience. Too expensive for what you get.
