Wingate by Wyndham Detroit Metro Airport

I booked the shuttle for 7:30am, but it was pulling out at 7:25 even though I'd told the front desk I was on my way out. When I asked why they were leaving early and leaving me behind, the driver yelled at me in front of other customers. He showed no regard for me or them. The morning staff are rude, don't help customers, and yell at you instead. The hotel should be clear about its shuttle times. If it leaves before 7:30, don't call it the 7:30 shuttle. Nobody should be yelled at first thing in the morning.

The reception staff were polite and helpful, and my room was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was clean too, the beds were comfy, and nothing felt unreasonable for the price. I stayed at American suites as well and had a good experience there too. The beds at wyndham were just a little more comfortable, but both places were decent for what they cost. There's an eatery near reception called wings something, though I didn't try it. I also skipped breakfast and any other amenities they might have. I'm not sure why this hotel has a 3.3 rating. In my opinion, some of the people rating it down could be competitors who can't match its cleanliness and comfort.

At 7 AM the shuttle was about to leave with two people aboard, so it wasn't full. The manager asked whether I had a tip. I said I don't carry cash, and she told me I couldn't ride without tipping the driver. I didn't take it and went with other, better options. That's not how tips or free shuttles work. Her corruption cost the hotel revenue, and I won't stay there again. Earlier, I'd asked about the lost & found drawer. The manager said she couldn't check because the girl who handles it arrives at 8 AM, even though the drawer was only three feet away. That tells you what kind of people the Wingate employs.

There were four of us, but the so-called "hot" breakfast was only three cold pancakes and five cold sausages in the fridge for us to microwave. It wasn't hot, and there wasn't enough food for everyone. When we raised it at the front desk, the woman was rude and offered no fix. The hotel manager didn't return our messages or emails. We picked this hotel mainly because breakfast was included. I know it's basically a park and fly hotel, but they shouldn't advertise an amenity inaccurately. I'm very disappointed that the manager wouldn't speak with us to resolve it.
