Comfort Suites Kings Bay Naval Base Area

A bright spotlight outside my room shone in all night, and there wasn't a curtain to block it. On top of that, I had no TV the entire night. They said it had only been out for a few hours and that they were working on it, but it never came back. I don't have Netflix, either. If they'd told me about the TV when I checked in, I wouldn't have stayed. After driving all day, who wants a hotel room without a TV? It's 5 a.m., I'm awake, annoyed, and not rested.

Elise and Jordan at the front desk were polite and extremely helpful, and they did what they could. I appreciate their efforts. The management experience, though, was awful. I called several times about returning an item and repeatedly asked for a callback from manager Jeannine Morris. She wouldn't address me directly or call me back, even after I reported the matter to Corporate. Instead, she left the front desk staff to handle it. I found her lack of accountability disgraceful and thought her unwillingness to face a customer was cowardly. Avoid this place until it has competent management.

I chose Comfort Suites Kings Bay for its quiet location and cleanliness, even though several cheaper hotels are nestled behind it. The front desk staff were polite and knew the area. Sonnys is just down the road, with what I think are the best smoked barbecue ribs in the country. Booking online at least five hours before arrival can save you a good amount. For a little extra, you get a clean, quiet, quality room and a place that feels safe. I'd take that over a gross $57 motel. The hotel is conveniently just off the highway.

The room was clean, and the staff were very friendly. Breakfast in the morning was okay. We booked here while leaving for a cruise out of Jacksonville, Florida, and the drive to the port took only half an hour with little traffic. I'd recommend this hotel to anyone taking a cruise from Jacksonville.
