Waterside Resort

Heidi made us feel welcome both on the phone and when we arrived and left. We stayed three nights at Waterside Resort in Roper while visiting Edenton, and it was a highlight of the trip. From our top-floor, north-side condo, we had a spectacular view of the Albemarle Sound. The unit was beautifully decorated, with granite countertops, gas logs in the fireplace, a walk-in closet and whirlpool tub in the main bedroom, and 2 1/2 bathrooms. There were handsome chairs at the breakfast bar and dining table, thick towels, comfortable sitting chairs, and jewelry drawers in the dressers. Outside, we had a dock, playground, pool, badminton net, and grills. Edenton was easy to reach, just half a mile from the Albemarle Bridge. Washington is an hour away and worth a day trip, especially if you enjoy nice shopping. A lovely spot to simply chill.

The rooms were big and beautiful, with a full-size kitchen, washer and dryer, two bedrooms, and two full bathrooms with showers and tubs. One bathroom had a jacuzzi tub. There was a nice pool, a gas fire pit, a beautiful dock, and great views. The one downside was the midges: dead ones covered the deck and walls. On our mid-September trip, though, we could sit on the deck without being bothered by them.

The room was very clean and spacious, so I had no complaints about it. Outside, though, the building was absolutely filthy and looked almost abandoned. If they'd cleaned it, the place would have felt safe to stay in.

Spiders had completely infested the place. We couldn't even check in because the elevator was full of them. We paid $311 for 3 nights, then had a terrible time getting in touch with the management office. After that awful experience, they refunded only $211. We lost $100. Do not stay here. Keep your money and go somewhere clean, where guests are cared for.
