Aloft by Marriott Chicago O'Hare

The staff were really friendly, and there were plenty of restaurants nearby. The shuttle ran reliably, so getting to and from the airport was easy. I was here for an event and stayed a few extra days to see Chicago. There’s also a train station not far away. Even this close to the airport, I got a good night’s sleep each night.

We spent one night here before flying out of ORD, and I’d stay again. Jessica at the front desk was especially welcoming, and everyone we dealt with was warm and helpful. The rooms were clean and nicely put together, and we picked up some food from the hotel restaurant. The kids had fun in the small pool for a bit. Our shower had good water pressure, and the queen beds were comfortable. A lovely overnight stop for the family.

The room was all right and parking was expensive, but the front desk put us off the hotel completely. The clerk checking us in seemed miserable and annoyed, and assigned us a room at the far end of the property. He also apparently didn’t activate our keys, so we had to haul all our luggage back to the desk. When we returned, he wasn’t there to sort it out. I wouldn’t stay again even for free. There are better hotels nearby.

The bar is a nice spot, and it’s easy to walk to restaurants nearby. Breakfast, though, left a lot to be desired. I was here recently for work, and the rooms seemed worn down. My first room’s key card stopped working at the door; in the next room there was no hot water, a problem other guests also had, and the toilet didn’t work. I spoke with the front desk, but nothing really got fixed.
