Baymont by Wyndham Roswell

I was just passing through and probably wouldn't stay here again. The rate for a walk-in was a pleasant surprise, $70, with a $20 credit if you checked out by 10 am. Outside and the lobby looked clean, but my room smelled strongly of smoke. I should've asked for a nonsmoking room. The carpet was worn throughout the hotel, there was no TV remote, and I couldn't work out the shower head. Breakfast was free, with a waffle maker, snack foods, a few cereals, and coffee, though the juice machine was broken. At checkout there was a sign saying the desk clerk would return by 7:30, so I left my key cards on the desk, hoping that would count as checking out by 10 for the credit. I never received the $20, and both phone numbers on my receipt were out of service.

For the price, breakfast was a lot better than I expected, with a hot buffet instead of wrapped pastries and gritty coffee. The beds were clean, though the carpet was very worn and stained. The pool was closed for repairs or cleaning, but the hot tub was running. There was a decent-looking fitness room that I didn't get to use. A solid stay.

The price felt steep for the service. The room was clean and didn't smell, but the tub was badly stained and gross, so I had to clean it before using it. The pool was out of service too, which was a big letdown, and I think the rate should've been lower. Breakfast was pretty sad, just doughnuts, toast, and cereal, with no free drinking water, only $1 water to buy. The TV didn't work, and it took an employee 30 minutes to help. The doors between adjoining rooms are thin, so you can hear everything from next door, especially voices and the TV. It wasn't the worst stay, but there's plenty of room to improve for that price.

The bird mess outside is hard to miss. There are loads of droppings in and around the trees at the front, so park in a spot without a tree overhead. Inside, things are clean, but the hotel needs a deep cleaning, especially the fabrics in the common areas. The location is great, staff are friendly, and the beds are really comfortable. The toilet was unusually low, so some people may need help getting up. Breakfast waffles were great, and there's a pleasant outdoor BBQ, gazebo, and dog lawn area past the pool doors.
