bantr Grand Hotel Wausau - Rothschild

The rooms are really nice and huge, though they feel oddly empty. The location is strange, across from a mostly vacant mall and near the power plant. From the bar, you can peek through the curtains at the construction site where the old water park was.

We used the huge room with its large tables to play dominoes one afternoon, and the rest of our stay went smoothly too. The room was clean and nice, the pool area was warm, and both the pool and hot tub were at comfortable temperatures. The staff were very nice, and check-in and checkout were easy. We didn’t try or even look at the breakfast, so I can’t comment on it. We did mention during last year’s stay that a hotel this large needs signs on the walls to help people find their way around. We’d happily stay again.

The first night went really well. The burger at the bar was amazing, and the gentleman working there was very polite. I also liked the woodwork in the rooms. The next morning, though, I noticed hair stuck to the shower walls and discolored grout. The TV sounded like it had a blown speaker, and I’d suggest bringing an air freshener.

I’m here at Bantr for work, a long way from my home in Texas, and the place is gorgeous. The friendly, accommodating staff make it easier for me, since I’m not comfortable going out alone. I found a good place to hang out in the Bantr Grand Hotel bar, especially on weekends when Sara is bartending. She’s always smiling and ready to help, and she makes me feel at home enough to forget I’m not from Wisconsin. She welcomes everyone, keeps glasses full, and keeps people smiling. I’ve watched her handle situations calmly and professionally that might send someone else into a spiral. I feel safe in the atmosphere she creates. I’d recommend coming by for laughs, good music, and a few drinks, no matter your background.
