Holiday Inn & Suites Wausau-Rothschild by IHG

The room was clean and the restaurant food was great, but the service was a joke. The person who took our reservation was very accommodating, then on arrival February 13 at 4 PM, the attendant was rude and dismissive. We had to ask what room we were in because he hadn’t told us. His answer was, “it’s in the card wallet,” and he couldn’t give us the number. When I asked which entrance to use, he pointed at the front door and said, “it’s right there,” even though our room was literally the farthest from it and we should have been given a more convenient entrance. Other family members arrived about 9 PM for the same sporting competition, with their month-old child, and waited over 30 minutes to check in. Only two staff members were scheduled all night on a Friday with sporting events in town, and one was a shuttle driver who could only pick people up at the airport. The person who should have been at the desk was fixing a heater in a room, leaving the desk unattended for over half an hour. At least half a dozen unhappy guests were in the lobby waiting and complaining. The shuttle driver kept saying it wasn’t their fault because only two people had been scheduled. The poor service that night wasn’t the PM attendant’s fault, but the daytime attendant’s rudeness was on him.
