Red Roof Inn Albany Airport

I’ve tried other hotels, but I keep coming back here. It’s quiet, the room is clean, and the beds are comfortable. Everyone is kind, from the lobby staff to housekeeping, and the manager goes out of her way to accommodate you. She’s the best. I also like the rewards program. Nothing negative to say about this place. Keep up the good work.

The plumbing was the one real problem in room 240. Both the sink and shower drained slowly, and shower water gathered around my ankles. It wasn’t a deal breaker, but management should take care of it. Otherwise, the room was clean, bug-free, warm in freezing weather, and very quiet despite being near the airport. The shower pressure was better than average. The built-in heaters worked well, and I never needed the AC. Staff at the front desk were welcoming, and a maintenance guy noticed the TV wasn’t connected and came in to fix it. I also appreciated that the vending area needed key access. They let me check in early, around 2:30 pm, which helped a lot. I was staying while my truck was in the shop overnight at Volvo Gabrielli Truck Sales and Service. Truck drivers should know the signs say no semis. Bobtail should be fine, but I wouldn’t bring a truck and trailer unless there was no other option. In dry weather with no traffic, it might be possible in a pinch, though I’d call ahead if unsure. Restaurants are within walking distance, and the airport is close. There aren’t any ice cream places nearby, but Uber Eats worked fine. At $57 a night, the value is hard to beat. I got a solid night’s rest and would stay again for the price.

The room itself was the letdown. There was an odd smell, spilled stuff still on the desk, and plenty of dust and debris on the lamp base. The bathroom was clean, but the ceiling beside the shower had a fist-sized open hole, with another partial hole in the plaster nearby. It looked like someone had started patching the ceiling and stopped. The bed was very comfortable, parking was plentiful, and check-in was easy. The price is great, and the location is incredible, with lots of restaurants, malls, and stores within a mile. I’d be happy to stay again in a different room. One small hassle: DoorDash won’t deliver to your room here for some reason, so you have to pick up your order at the front motel office. That seems to be a DoorDash issue, not a Red Roof Motal issue.

The best things about this place are how close it is to the airport, two giant shopping centers, two super Walmarts, and the highway. But during our 7-day stay in late May, getting towels meant fighting with the staff. I don’t think there were enough people working to clean the rooms, since they were often still cleaning at 6:00 or 7:00 p.m. And the elevator doesn’t work. That’s not acceptable for a three-story hotel.
