Budget Inn Roxboro

The breakfast was awful, just bread and cereal, with not even half a gallon of milk. When I asked for milk, it became a whole issue. The man came out with a gallon, then snatched it away when I reached for it and poured it for me. They also claim to have a “Christmas deal” for $80, but that’s the regular price. You pay $80 for terrible service. There are bugs everywhere, and the photos they show are false advertising. Someone I’m pretty sure was the owner, my fiancé had the interaction, knocked and wanted to come spray for bugs in our room while we were staying there, exposing us to chemicals. When we asked for a different room because ours was horrendous, they said there weren’t any, even though only two cars were in the lot and the other rooms looked open. We booked for over a week, and the problems started the first night. We couldn’t check in because they said our ID was “messed up,” even though it was perfectly readable. We had to stay out in the snow, they wouldn’t refund us, and they didn’t try to fix it. Their excuse was that they supposedly “don’t do refunds.” After we finally got a room and stayed a couple of nights, we were suddenly moved out. First they said our room was “reserved” for someone else. When we pointed out people don’t get a room until they check in, the story changed to the boss needing to “paint” it. He still hasn’t painted it. We were put in a room ten times smaller, with a sunken floor, an AC that smelled burnt, a toilet that wasn’t secured to the floor, a sewer smell in the bathroom, and doors that don’t lock except with the key. Half the time the key doesn’t work, so you have to get it reset. One night the key failed, and when we went to the office they demanded our license even though it was in the locked room. The man refused for a while to reset our key. Another time, while we were sleeping, “room service,” the boss, kept knocking and calling out room service. When we didn’t answer, he got an attitude, said things in his language, and yelled “garbage,” so we felt forced to open the door and hand over barely half a trash can of rubbish. We left a couple of bottles of water and came back to a “Warning.” The owner lied, saying there was liquid all over the bed, then changed that to urine. That wasn’t true. After that, we got the worst room you could possibly have. I’ve never had a hotel experience like this, and I’ve had some bad ones. This hotel and its so-called management top them all. I’d go anywhere else, and I mean anywhere.
