La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Ruidoso Downs

If your boss sticks you at La Quinta, they must hate you, so you should probably quit. Nelly at the front is super nice, though. The shower works, and that's five stars in my book.

Great spot off US70, and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a budget place. The rooms were mostly clean, but the bathroom could've been cleaner and had a couple of hairs. Most of the room's outlets were missing covers, so be aware if you've got kids. Other than that, a great location.

The muffins were so far out of date that opening the package and smelling the mold made me gag. The pool was broken and closed, and the TV in the room didn't work. The shampoo and conditioner containers were empty, the sheets had disgusting stains, and the bed squeaked loudly whenever I moved. I also stepped in puke in the parking lot. That part wasn't their fault, but it was still disgusting. I won't stay there again.

During the night, our fire alarm went off by mistake. We called the front desk to ask what was going on, and they said not to worry but gave no explanation. The bathroom ceiling had water stains and what looked like a mold-like substance. The hotel is being remodeled, and the rear dog-walking area was strewn with construction debris: pallets with nails, broken ceramic tiles, and plastic. There was a 30-yard dumpster on site that looked like it had plenty of room for the debris. It was a hazard and an eyesore. You'd think management would care about that.
