Best Western PLUS Ruston Hotel

I was in town for work from the 9th through the 21st and stayed here the whole time. The room was comfortable and clean, and the staff, especially the reception desk, were really friendly and helpful. The online price felt fair for what I got. The only bother for me was that the little store by the front desk stayed almost empty. I work from my hotel room a lot, so that mattered more to me than it might to others. Still, the room size and staff made it a worthwhile stay.

We’d come back, or give another BE location a try. The staff here were friendly, and the lobby was spacious and clean. Breakfast was a pleasant surprise, the sausage, eggs, biscuit and gravy were better than what we usually get at Holiday Inn Express. We normally stay at HIE, but there isn’t one in this town. The luggage carts are a bit small, and there were only three pillows in our room. They kindly brought another when I asked. HIE also supplies more toilet paper and tissues. We still enjoyed our stay. 4/26/2026.

We paid $470 including taxes for a weekend rate because of a tournament in town, even though the hotel wasn’t packed. The Best Western Plus in Ruston, La wasn’t worth that price. The room also had a few design problems: the table between the beds stuck out enough to bang into, and we kept having to shift the mattress back onto its base because its corner was easy to trip over. The heavy room door didn’t close itself all the way, so you had to make sure it was shut. The bathroom door felt loose, and I had to work the handle up and down to get it open. The room didn’t seem properly cleaned. The bins were empty, but that was about it. The tub and shower never got hot, not even properly warm. We couldn’t tell whether the bathroom faucet would get hot either, because the basin was nearly full by the time the water became lukewarm. Both the faucet and shower head looked like they were coming away from the wall. We do not recommend this location and won’t stay at any Best Western or affiliate after this experience.

On my second visit, June 8, 2026, I had a king room, number 312, the accessible room. It was $132 plus tax as a BW member. Nice hotel, handy for restaurants and Walmart. Ian at the desk was friendly and easy to deal with. The room was roomy, clean, quiet, and had no bugs. The mattress was firm but nice, the pillows were good, and the AC was great. I didn’t try the wifi. The TV was a decent size, though the channel guide was old and kept flickering. I’d stayed here earlier too, on January 20, 2026, in room 217, for $119 after tax. It looked surprisingly nice when I walked in, better than most or maybe all the BW places I’ve seen. That room was clean and quiet with no bugs, working AC and wifi, a firm mattress, and soft pillows that felt cheap or overused. The towel was nice and the TV was a good size. Walmart and fast food are a minute away. Rates beat W Monroe and it’s a little better than those places too. Only Comfort Suite is better, but it’s very expensive, about $250 at today’s rate. A good choice when other options nearby aren’t cheap or aren’t your preferred hotel.
