Hampton Inn Ruston

The staff have been friendly and helpful each time, but after several stays hoping things would improve, I’m still disappointed. There’s a sour, almost sulfur-like smell through the hotel, stains running down my room walls, and a big tear right in the middle of the chair seat. The bedskirts were lying on the floor too, which didn’t make for a relaxing stay. I’m glad two Hilton properties are preparing to open in Ruston. If they’re open on my next visit, I’ll stay at one of those.

The gym is the weak spot here. It’s tiny, with only four machines, and two were making such loud noises they seemed to need grease. I didn’t want to use them. There’s also nowhere proper to use the weights, with no bench or mats. Aside from that, the hotel was good.

The staff were very nice, but the hotel and room were in rough condition. Furniture was old and worn, and there were several large, odd marks on the wall that I couldn’t identify. I also found a tube of something under the sink that looked like it had been there a long time. The bathroom vent was dirty too, even though it’s easy to reach, and there were several other very dirty spots in the room.

The staff were courteous and professional, so my complaint is about the property itself. Carpets, walls, furniture, and décor all look worn and dated, and the place badly needs renovation. A lot of other reviews seem to mention the same problems. At more than $150 a night, this condition doesn’t justify the price. Hilton should address the issues or adjust what it charges. Hotels in this shape are hurting the Hilton brand.
