The staff paid attention and even checked whether I’d enjoyed my stay, which I appreciated. My second-floor room was quiet and perfectly adequate, with nothing that concerned me. I had a good visit to the Super 8 in Ruther Glen. Thanks, Super 8 Ruther Glen!

I called six times around 7 p.m. because I couldn't get the internet to connect, but nobody answered. They’re supposed to have a 24-hour front desk, and that wasn't the case. The woman at the counter was rude from the start. I paid for the room online, then she asked to see my card to verify it, which is normal. Later I saw another room charge on my bank account. I went down politely to explain, and she insisted I hadn't paid online. I showed her the account, and after looking at her computer she admitted, “your right.” She said nothing more. I had to ask whether she’d refunded the charge and how long it would take to show back up in my account. Sad, very bad customer service.

We were only about 10 minutes from Kings Dominion, so this hotel worked perfectly for our trip. The breakfast was small, just coffee, cereal, and waffles, but it was good enough. The rooms are old and dated, though they looked clean, and that’s what matters most to me. I used to clean hotel rooms at the beach in summer, so I know what to check for. They cleaned.

The guys were really friendly and understanding. The woman at the front desk, though, was so snotty toward people. I tried to book a room at midnight after traveling, and she sounded incredibly rude. If I could talk to corporate about it, I would.
