Rock Creek Hotel

Clean, friendly place, all on one level. Would recommend. 👍👍

The owner introduced herself and was friendly, greeted me, and even asked for a hug when we left. But the rest of this stay was handled terribly. After three weeks there, they added charges and ultimately padded $225 in charges, despite how obsessively I cleaned during our stay and before leaving. The attendant said we refused housekeeping, though if it was offered, it was when she asked if we needed anything while I stood there vulnerable and threatened. She also called my husband’s boss to complain. She gave me dirty looks during her shifts whenever I came out, and once chased me down the hall without saying anything, just looking at me with disgust. The feeling was mutual. The room attendant knocked while the do not disturb sign was on. I didn’t answer, so she opened the door anyway while I was standing there in my birthday suit. It was startling, shocking, unnerving, and left me very uncomfortable and upset. I was so caught off guard I could barely respond and nearly slammed the door on her arm. Luckily, when she scared me, I froze. I told her I wasn’t dressed and that we didn’t need anything. That was also the first I’d heard that smoking wasn’t permitted, and she threatened a $150 charge. There’s no elevator to the second floor, so you’ll have to carry your luggage up and down stairs. Our double-bed room was clean and simple, but on the hotel’s back side it got very hot during the day even with the AC running. There was no phone in the room, the bathroom vent was loud, and the lock used a traditional key. The view of a field and open sky was cool. The lobby was dated.

Rock Creek Hotel worked out well for an overnight stop, and the room had everything we needed. It was clean, and I liked having a 4-cup coffee pot in the room. The woman at the front desk was really sweet and friendly. I gave the room four stars only because it hasn’t been completely updated. A great place to stop for the night.

The only ice machine was broken, so you had to ask the clerk for ice. After 11:00, there’s no one there. The staff was friendly and accommodating when asked, and the hotel was very clean and comfortable. For Sabetha, it was decent. Service only gets two stars because there wasn’t enough help. Whenever you went to the desk, you had to ring a bell and wait. The same person working the desk was also doing laundry and cleaning rooms.
