The location is a big reason I keep coming back from Michigan, and I really like the comforts here. Still, bring earplugs. There’s no fan-only setting on the AC, so you can’t use it to cover the noise from nearby bars, restaurants, the parking lot, or the breakfast nook in the hallway. When the unit cycles on, it makes enough racket to wake me every time. The bathroom has no audible fan either, which is surprising at this level when even places like Red Roof Inn have both. Also, bathrobes apparently come only with rooms that have tubs, despite what the room description says. It’s a small thing, but an included robe makes a real difference for some people. I’ve heard, “It’s the kind of place that has bathrobes in the room.” Maybe that’s code for “boutique hotel,” I don’t know. Great place otherwise, but consider bringing your own robe too.

We really enjoyed walking along the water and looking around the very quiet town. The staff were so friendly, our room was beautiful, and the owner did a lovely job renovating the place. Each day there was a selection of coffee, tea, juice, and pastries. We’d definitely recommend staying here.

Joe was helpful and informative when he answered the phone and handled our reservation. It seemed odd to me that he left the inn at 4:00 PM, but we had a number to call if we needed anything, and we didn’t end up needing it. Our small room was a pleasant surprise: spotless and decorated with great taste. Getting into bed was a bit of a climb, but it was incredibly comfortable, and after a long day of driving, those warm covers felt wonderful. The bathroom had fluffy, soft towels and everything we needed. A view of the water would have made the location ideal, but I’ll take a clean, tasteful, comfortable room over an ordinary one with a water view any day. Harbor House Inn is a real find. Would I stay there again? In a heartbeat!
