The host was very nice at check-in, asked when we wanted breakfast brought to the room, and even delivered silverware and dishes for our takeout. Service was good, and the room looked pretty, with a comfortable bed. The place was quiet overall. Still, at almost $300 per night, I expected much better cleanliness, especially during COVID. The room was dusty, there were cobwebs on the light fixtures, and old rose petals and tooth past caps were still on the floor. The toilet had brown marks, and there was barely any hand soap left. The breakfast looked lovely, but neither my wife nor I could eat the waffles. They tasted like fried funnel cake and were so chewy I could hardly cut them with a knife. What finally pushed me to write this was the pot smoke. The manager/ hosts unit backs onto our room, and the host smoked on the patio beside ours morning and night. We heard him hacking, couldn’t use our patio because it reeked, and the smell filled our room. On our last morning, the whole lobby smelled like pot. I don’t mind people smoking, but doing it where it affects guests felt very unprofessional. Not everyone wants a $300 room that smells like weed.

We had a lovely time celebrating our 9-year anniversary here. The room and jacuzzi tub made it easy to relax, and everything was impeccably clean. The bed and breakfast were delicious. From check-in through checkout, the experience was flawless. All the little nooks and crannies are adorable, and the decorations show so much attention to detail. I’d recommend this place to anyone looking for a restful getaway.

The best part was being able to relax without the kids. The beds were comfortable, and the bathroom was lovely, with marble floors and a large jetted tub for two. The staff were wonderful and brought cookies at night, then set drinks on a tray outside our door at 6am so we could have them whenever we wanted. There was coffee, tea, juice, hot chocolate, and more. They were so quiet I didn’t even know they’d been there. Breakfast was brought right to our room, beautifully set out with china, silverware, flowers, and cloth napkins. We had orange salad with honey and almonds, apple smoked sausage, and Belgium waffles with walnuts and syrup. This bed and breakfast was great, with lots of restaurants within walking distance.

Amber house was just what my wife and I wanted for a quiet getaway, not too far away. We liked the decor and the clean, welcoming room, especially the jetted tub. After walking along L Street for dinner and dessert, we came back and soaked in the tub. So relaxing. The bed was comfy, too. Breakfast was delicious: fluffy belgian waffles, crisp bacon, and oranges with a tasty drizzle and almonds. The coffee was good as well. While tidying up after our food coma, we spotted a brown journal with notes from previous visitors. We read a few and left one ourselves. It would’ve been cool to find it the night before. We’ll definitely be back.

Love this place. They do so many nice things, and my favorite is coffee brought to the room in the morning while you get ready. There’s more at breakfast, which they make when you walk into the dining area. It was delicious and more detailed than I expected. They think of little things, too. My room was on the first floor, with frosted lower windows for privacy. The rooms are large, so there’s a space heater in each one.
