The resort is pretty, has beautiful views, and is in a great location. The staff were really friendly, the grounds were lovely and well kept, and the lobby looked grand and beautiful. The main pool was clean and well maintained too. But the room cleaning was not up to par, and for almost $300 a night I expected better. There was hair all over the bathroom, including around the sink like someone had shaved there, and in the tub. The floor around the sink was dirty, there were Bobby pins that weren’t ours, and the bed looked hastily made. When we pulled back the blankets, there was no fitted sheet. It was 10:30pm, and they offered to bring one and provide complimentary breakfast, which was nice, but we didn’t want to remake the bed that late. We slept on a flat sheet for our one-night stay, and hadn’t planned on eating breakfast. The carpet was old, worn, and bunched up in places. I almost tripped walking to the bathroom. We checked into the room around 6pm Friday and went to the pool, then changed for dinner at the on-site restaurant, Echo. We had a 9pm reservation, arrived at 8:50pm, and were seated, but didn’t get a waitress until around 9:10. She and the manager apologized, and they comped part of the meal, which we appreciated. The porkchop was good, but I wouldn’t recommend the Alfredo. I didn’t eat it, though it looked really pretty. Everyone was still kind. I’m not sure we’d return at that price given the room cleanliness, though maybe I should’ve looked more carefully before dinner.

The view and pool were fantastic, and the beach had the softest sand. The hotel was gorgeous, in a fabulous location, and the front desk employees were really friendly. The beds sit pretty high, which could be tough for someone with mobility issues. There wasn’t a microwave in our room, and we couldn’t request one.

The food was great, and the rooms were okay, though they seemed a bit thrown together and had some stains and dirt. The bartender with dark slicked back hair wasn’t kind or attentive. My mom and I waited at the bar for 15 minutes, waving several times. He made eye contact but didn’t come over. When my mom finally got to ask for dinner menus and drinks, he basically waved us away and walked off. We only found out as we were leaving that he’d gone to the restroom.

The sunrise over the water was unforgettable, one of those moments that reminds you why you travel. The views are calming and expansive, just what you hope for on a coastal getaway. The King and Prince Beach Resort is a historic property, and that character shows in the rooms. You don’t come here for modern updates, but the charm makes up for that. Thoughtful service and comfortable amenities added to the experience. A lovely stay.

The pool and ocean access are perfect, and we love St Simon’s and will definitely return to the area. We won’t stay here again. We’re on day three now, and the elevator has broken. The first two days were disappointing too: no coffee maker in the room, no body wash in the bathroom, and stained, dirty carpet. We went to ask about the dinner reservation we’d made over a week earlier and were told we didn’t have one. They offered to get the manager, but we decided not to spend any more money here. This is an expensive hotel, and we didn’t mind paying over $400 a night, but I expected better.
