Days Inn by Wyndham Salado

We were traveling with a truck and stock trailer, so we called ahead to ask about a room and parking. They set aside a spot for us, then came out when we arrived to point it out and help us park. The owners were amazing and went well out of their way. Our room and bathroom were very clean, and breakfast had a good range: scrambled eggs and breakfast meats, cereal, waffles, bagels, muffins, coffee, juice, milk, and lemonade. I’d highly recommend staying here for a night, a week, or a month.

I’ve never been treated so rudely by a motel or hotel. The first person I spoke with handled my reservation courteously, the way you’d expect from a decent business. Later I had to cancel, and I’m pretty sure the person who spoke to me then was the owner. Nobody should talk to a customer that way. I’m not fond of this chain, but thought I’d try it because it looked clean from outside. Maybe the fact that there are never cars out front should have been my first hint. Buyer beware. I know how your chain gets around poor ratings, so I wonder what you’ll do with this one. It isn’t fully honest, because I can’t repeat the words you said to me. Namaste.

We were locked out of our room 15 minutes before 11. I’d left the truck key in there, so while a family member waited by the truck with half our things, I went back for the fob and found the door locked. When I went downstairs to explain, he tried to get me to go back upstairs with him. I felt unsafe, so my male cousin took my place, and the man didn’t go upstairs with him. The whole thing felt wrong. Locking us out early seemed shady, and I definitely wouldn’t recommend this place. I didn’t feel safe.

Our reservation said breakfast, but there was no breakfast or coffee. They had Twinkies, Ding Dongs, and hot water. Then, despite our booking being for four, they charged us for two extra people when we arrived. The hallways and rooms smelled oddly musty, as if cleaners were being used to cover mold. I came home and could still smell it in my CPAP tube. This is a two-star hotel with two-star service, and you get what you pay for. I’m just letting people know what to expect, and don’t want a rude reply from the manager.
