The property has charm and a good location for walking around, but parts of our one-night stay left us frustrated. At 9, we showed up wanting a quick drink before bed. We’d been told the kitchen and bar closed at 10, so it was frustrating to hear they’d shut early. With few options in a small town, an early hotel bar closing is a big no for me. The bartender seemed annoyed we’d even come in and didn’t offer to make a drink for us to take to the room. Change the posted hours if you won’t stay open. I miss the kind of service where staff adapt and help instead of making guests feel like a burden. Our room was cute and decently clean, but the shower was dirty and the rooms felt worn and aged. We didn’t mind for one night, though for a longer stay I’d have asked them to clean the shower again. I also miss the old restaurant decor from the previous owners. The current design feels blander, and less grand and warm, though the property is still quaint. After the bar experience, I’m not sure I’d return. Coming from hospitality, that was a big red flag for service quality.

Our wedding reception at Stagecoach Inn’s Grace Jones Ballroom went beautifully, thanks to a team that cared about all the details. The food was phenomenal: sirloin, pork chops, and jumbo Cajun Creole shrimp cooked perfectly. Guests kept saying it was among the best reception food they’d had. Cody deserves huge credit for getting the menu just right. Jackson handled the bar service wonderfully, keeping drinks flowing and bringing fun, upbeat energy. Abby, Jamie, and Armando worked hard behind the scenes to keep everything smooth, the food hot, guests happy, and the room comfortable. Kaci made a stunning two-layer cake that tasted as good as it looked and matched our decorations perfectly. From start to finish, everyone went above and beyond to make the day unforgettable. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience, and would recommend Stagecoach Inn for its food, service, and caring event team.

We stayed for a week while moving, and the staff were fantastic. Valarie has done a beautiful job with the rooms, keeping their historic feel while making them modern and clean. Our room looked over the pool and pool side bar. We didn’t get to try dinner, but the desserts were wonderful. My parents honeymooned here in 1975 and came back for every anniversary for the next 20 years. We’ll stay here on visits home, and our pets loved it too.

A nice, reasonably priced place, with well styled rooms, good lighting, and a great bed. The main street is walkable, with plenty of shops, coffee, and historic old school ruins. We were a little sad to see the place mostly empty during our stay, though maybe that was just because it was midwinter. The only downside was highway noise. It was fine inside the room, but pretty loud outside. Otherwise, a great stop, and I’d recommend it if you’re traveling between Dallas and Austin like we were.

Salado is a fun little town, and this was a perfect girls’ weekend that we’ll definitely repeat. From the reservation call through checkout, everything at the Stagecoach went smoothly. The staff were pleasant and professional, the room was clean and comfortable, and both our restaurant meal and the bakery pastries were delicious. It was a super relaxing weekend. Highly recommend.
