The location was just right, and we left already looking forward to trying more Lark Hotels, hoping they'll measure up. At The Merchant, everything was organized from booking through departure, with excellent communication that made the stay easy. The staff were so welcoming, and all the little extras were spot on: fresh cookies when we arrived, lovely breakfast touches in the morning, and GREAT coffee. We'll definitely book here again. Thanks for a wonderful visit.

What a lovely getaway in a perfect location. The rooms are cozy and have gas fireplaces. There was espresso, tea, water, and plenty of sweet and savory snacks, including homemade overnight oats, breakfast sandwiches, egg bites, yogurt parfaits, plus warm scones and quiche in the morning.

Salem was so convenient to explore from The Merchant, and I'd happily pick this charming place again. The room felt cozy and homey, with thoughtful details that made it welcoming. You can hear people moving around the building at times, but the sound machine in the room made that a complete non-issue. It was a comfortable stay.

The warm chocolate chip cookies are still on our minds. My wife and I stayed at The Merchant Hotel in Salem in mid-December while heading to Rockport for a show, and those were honestly the best hotel cookies we've ever had. The staff were genuinely lovely and friendly, and made us feel at home throughout. Our room was quiet and comfortable after a winter day out, with a fireplace. The decor was beautiful, cozy, and full of details that made the hotel feel luxurious but welcoming. We loved our stay and can't wait to return. Highly recommend!

Staying in the George Washington room let us, as history buffs, feel immersed in a little piece of history. The Merchant's old-world charm and beauty are hard to beat, and the hotel itself is adorable. It's right in downtown Salem, within walking distance of most main attractions. What stood out most was the hospitality and generosity of the staff. Their thoughtful attention to the small details is what makes this place unforgettable.
